Chadstone is an ideal centre for tourists.

Ludlow, only nine miles distant, is famous for its 11th-century castle, timber-framed buildings, elegant Georgian houses and the outstanding parish church of St Laurence with wonderfully-carved misericords and a tall and elegant tower. The ashes of the poet A. E. Housman, the author of A Shropshire Lad, were scattered in the churchyard. A stroll through the streets of Ludlow can only give pleasure, it has been described as the most beautiful and distinguished country town in England. Don't forget to look out for the Feathers Hotel. There is an internationally-renowned Shakespearian and Arts Festival held annually in June and July.

 

Church Stretton is also within easy reach, resting at the foot of the Stretton Hills and the Long Mynd. Walkers also have the choice of Wenlock Edge, the Clee Hills and Clun Forest.

 

Much Wenlock, about 11 miles distant, is a pleasant market town with an array of attractive old buildings and is most famous for its ruined Priory of St Milburga (founded in AD68) and striking half-timbered Guildhall which has a furnished and panelled interior. The Olympic Games were first revived in Much Wenlock and in 1890 a famous visitor was Baron de Coubertin who went on to organise the first International Modern Olympics. Ironbridge, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, with its nine industrial museums, is a few miles the other side of Much Wenlock.

 

Stokesay Castle, Acton Scott Farm Museum and Shipton Hall are also on the doorstep, as are several National Trust properties. At historic Bridgnorth there is the Severn Valley Railway and the Motor Museum, whilst the Aerospace Museum is at Cosford. Golf and swimming are available at both Bridgnorth and Ludlow. The delightful town of Shrewsbury is also well worth a visit.

 

And no, those are not vultures you can see circling over the house, they are the Corvedale buzzards!
